If the individual should choose treatment, the addictimmediately enters a widely respected treatment facility.

Hotel Rwanda - don’t stop there…

I saw Hotel Rwanda thisweekend.  I know I’m going to take a lot of flack for this, but the moviewasn’t that good.  I think the movie is getting a lot of accolades becauseit’s educating people about the genocide in Rwanda that took place in 1994. I think everyone should know about that.  And that’s why I say the moviefalls short.  There’s just not enough time in a movie to do the topic justice. But…

If you don’t know about Rwanda, go see the movie.  Rent it, buy it, whateveryou have to do.  See the movie.  You’ll have a sliver of knowledgeabout the genocide.  If you’re moved, if you want more information, ifyou’re outraged, I recommend reading a book called “WeWish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will be Killed With Our Families.

We Wish To InformYou goes into greater detail, has more insight, and it very well written. It will give you a better understanding of the events, but will leave you with noexplanations.

If any of this frustrates you, then I suggest you learn about what is happening in Darfur rightnow.  Genocide is taking place as I type this message.  10,000 people willbe killed today.  Learnmore, then makea difference.  I hope you will.

Tip for GM - make a car we want to buy

GeneralMotors reports $1 billion first-quarter lossDETROIT - General Motors Corp. reported its deepest quarterly loss in more thana decade - $1.1 billion - as rising health care costs and lackluster response to somenew models hammered its North American business. With health costs not getting anycheaper and Asian automakers grabbing more of the market, the outlook for the world’slargest automaker remains bleak.Ouch!  Well it’s no wonder GM is having tough times.  They are outof touch with reality.  These are the guys running people off the road with theirmega SUV, TheHummer, trying to make sports cars out of their luxurycars, and cranking out nasty designsfrom the 80’s. These are not the cars American’s need and, based onthe numbers, not the cars American’s even want.Let’s set aside the fact the GM is having a tough time with health care costs. Forget the fact that the United Auto Workers union won’t reopen their contractto help out.  These are huge issues, but not the main problem facing GM, andother US auto makers.  The bottom line: your cars are no good. Here’s what we want.  And I’m speaking for all of America when Isay this.  We want a car that gets 50–70 MPG, and costs less than $10,000. Better yet, we want a car that doesn’t run on gas at all.  We don’twant to have to buy a Sherman Tank just to feel safe driving to work.  I’mtired of dodging Hummers all the time.29_35_20_webThe Smart CarI vote for a new kind of car.  Chrysler has a new car that I think is pretty…Smart.  Yep, it’s the Smartcar.  They are all the rage in Europe.  Now we’re talking. Come on GM, make something cool.  Something practical.  Something smallerthan my house.

New Blog!

I was about to give up on my blog.  I’ve been getting massive amounts of spamin my entry comments.  My site was hacked, and I just wasn’t having much fun. Well today I found a solution to my problems!  I upgraded my site to dasBlogversion 1.7  It seems that I wasn’t the only one having spam issues.

It took me about an hour and a half to complete the upgrade, but now things are muchbetter.  I’ve turned my comments back on, but you’ll notice that you now haveto enter a security code.  This keeps automated spam programs (robots) from blastingmy site with ads for online poker.

The upgrade not only prevents the spam, but it cleaned out all of the old spam. The little utility that upgraded my blog found thousands, that’s right, thousandsof spam entries.  Those are all gone now, and my blog is now clean.

The last little bonus is a boost to the performance of my blog.  Now you shouldsee things appear a bit faster, and my ISP will be happier as well.

Now that my blog’s technical problems seem to be fixed I’ll try to post more often. My next project is going to be a minor overhaul of the rest of my site.  Plansinclude:

I’ll still be posting images to my photo galleries, but less frequently now. I’m not sure yet how I’m going to decide what goes where, but I’m sure I’ll work itout.
