Is MT the answer?
I’ve been looking for a better blogging solution and came across this post. Wow, full iPhone support in Moveable Type. I may have to look at switching over.

“Today we are happy to announce MovableType for the iPhone and iPod Touch, made possible through a plugin developed by BradChoate that makes use of the design developed by WaltDickinson for TypePad.The plugin works by installing an alternatetemplate set that is automatically used in place of the primary Movable Type userinterface when the application is accessed via an iPhone or iPod Touch. The integrationwith Movable Type is totally seamless.”

Creating Macros for dasBlog
I mentioned in an earlier post that I’m going to revamp my books section. After reading about creatingmacros for dasBlog I think I’m going to integrate my books sectionand my blog. My idea is to create a macro that accepts an ISBN and Amazon merchantaccount ID and returns all the information using Amazon’swebservices. Seems simple enough. When I find the time to put this together I’ll make the macro available to others. I think the trick is going to be figuring out how to get dasBlog to recognize theISBN and return the valid HTML. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Blog update underway
Well I’ve started upgrading my blog. I have everything installed but need towork out some of the finer details (like my theme). I can’t believe it workedon the first try! Woo hoo.
Now I’m going to bed.
UPDATE: Looks like I had something configured wrong. This post was actuallycreated yesterday and is showing up today. Weird. Maybe the servers aren’tusing UTC. Hmmm.

Site upgrade continues…
I’m in the middle of my site upgrade. I’ve totally replaced my blogwith a new blog engine. I’m sure you don’t see any difference rightnow, and that’s a good thing.
I’ve upgraded my blog from dasBlog1.7 to dasBlog 1.9. It took a while to get everything converted but I thinkI’m done with the big stuff. Now I can start working on my new theme andthe overall look of my site.
My site is going to be pruned quite a bit. I’m going to throw out almosteverything. I’m keeping the blog and photoblog. I’m goingto revamp the books section so it will be out of service for a little while. I’m going to try to make it a lot more user friendly.
You should see a lot less colors on the new site, the ads will go away, and flashwill take over. I’ll still have a simple page for those folks with lowbandwidth connections who hate flash. But I love flash and it’s my siteso I’m going to do what I want. :-) I plan on stealing a bunch of ideasfrom gotoAndLearn. I can’twait.
Stay tuned and you should see things start to look different over the next month.
